Graduate Certificate in Technical/Professional Writing

Check out our program web page!

If you have an interest in the intersections between writing and technology, you can elect to work toward a Graduate Certificate in Technical/Professional Writing. Applicants must already possess an undergraduate degree in any field of study. Most students entering the program complete the 21-credit hour certificate in two years or less. Most of our courses are offered at night and some at our Uptown campus, in order to accommodate students who have daytime commitments.

Students are required to take twenty-one (21) credit hours of graduate course work related to technical communication. You will learn to:

  • design information and visuals
  • manage publications and extended projects
  • use hypermedia and multimedia authoring tools
  • work with real clients and writing situations
  • create on-line help and support systems
  • plan, develop, edit, and maintain websites
  • participate in team-based research and writing projects
  • understand context and audience
  • develop a professional portfolio
  • learn computing applications (Pagemaker, PowerPoint, web-based authoring tools)
